A few months ago, I ventured down to SoCal for a mere 48 hours that turned out to be a delightful getaway. It was unexpected, and oh so necessary.
Once I dropped off my friends at their hotel, I headed to one of my favorite West Side locations — Abbot Kinney. This street is not only paved with perfect palm trees, but trendy shops and boutiques also line up this magical strip.
Oh yeah, and did I mentioned it is also a celeb favorite spot? Don’t be surprised if you spot Nicole Richie, Miranda Kerr, Reese Witherspoon or soon-to-be bride Halle Berry doing some window shopping or strolling around.
I snapped and stopped by a few stores, so in the next few weeks the local gems are heading to Los Angeles. My first stop was one of West Hollywood’s most popular haunts, Satine Boutique. This shop, a favorite of many fashionistas, opened a second location in Venice in 2012 and it’s had quite a warm welcome.
It is filled with racks of Balenciaga, Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang and Preen (and that’s just to name a few) and the staff is super friendly. The store also feels like a giant luxurious closet with fantastic wallpaper and shabby chic decor. With all that, it was hard to walk out empty handed and I was very temped to take home a pair of Jenni Kayne D’Orsay flats. Luckily after a bit of pondering, my senses (and lack there of extra cents) kicked in.
Despite their superb shoe selection, the shop also has some fantastic bags from Rochas, jewelry from Dominic Jones and ready-to-wear pieces. They all exude that oh-so California chic mixed in with style and cool. So happy to see this West Hollywood haunt on the Westside and believe me, very soon I will be bringing all of the cents I can amass.
