OK, we all know that sometimes I am tardy to the party, but when I ventured east of Hollywood this past spring with my friend Sarica, I knew this was set to become a recurring excursion. For those of you who have visited the City of Angels, you are fully aware that distances can be a challenge and that those 20 minutes in traffic can turn into hours of stand-by moments.
Alas, no matter how west you are, this pilgrimage is a must and I am going to start by praising Lake Boutique, in the thick of it all. Owner Melissa Lovoy sure knows how to curate a local gem filled with treasures on every corner.
When I first set foot, I was mesmerized with the array of colors and styles and when I browsed the racks, I was simply taken on a journey to a bazaar across the world. The designers featured are emerging, independent names like San Francisco’s own Baggu, By Malene Birger and jewelry designer Emily Rothschild.
Did I mention they also carry an array of Isabel Marant? It is one of the most extensive I have seen outside Paris, and it certainly won’t disapoint. They carry everything from the Dicker booties to her now ultra-famous wedges to tops, dresses and pants. If you are searching, you’ll certainly find it here.
Another concept pretty prevalent is its true appeal to the California aesthetic. Most of the goodies are sustainable, fresh and timeless and rather representative of the laid back chic styles SoCal is known for. They feature locally made body products and even artisanal jewelry made in Cape Cod.
This is also a favorite amongst celebs, so be sure to keep your eyes open and be ready to mingle. Oh and the sales gals are some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable, so if you have questions or simply want to chat, don’t be afraid to ask.
