Now that we’ve all bid adieu to fashion season, it’s time to dish on the trends from the major design powerhouses. As you all saw a few weeks ago, for me New York was all about the crop top and now it’s time to cross the pond and see what the Brits had in stock.
London is always the more demure but this year, it left all of its inhibitions at the door — and I loved it! One of the main trends on many of the shows was sheer fabric used either for draping, skirts or as form-fitting styles on dresses. This trend has a femme fatale mix with je ne sais quoi feel that will absolutely empower and make every woman feel beautiful.
What I love about this look is how versatile it is. It can be sported for a sexy night out on the town or as a girly blouse with a tank top underneath (for those on the more conservative side!)
Tom Ford: Va-Va-Voom. If someone brought sexy back to the UK, it certainly was Mr. Ford. His latest collection was a mix of fitted leather ensembles, lace and a lot of skin. It’s very feminine and bold — sans that whole trashy feeling. I have a feeling that a lot of starlets and leggy gals will be donning his creations for many affairs to remember.
Burberry Prorsum: Prim and proper, yet naughty! I love the skirt with the underwear showing as it is a fun trend that (and I must address this explicitly) if done right, it can be a winner. Keep the knickers somewhat subdue — as no thongs or trashy panties, so that it doesn’t go stripper or desperate. The best way to wear this is indeed with a simple shirt and killer heels to accentuate the gams.
Mulberry: Stripes in all of the right places. Such a fun sartorialism that can be young and playful. It doesn’t overdue the trend, and this is the kind of shirt that the younger gals can sport, as it won’t seem to ‘grown up’ or have a mature feel.
Marios Schwab: This gown is perfection and love the color. I like the beading detail combined with the sheer paneling as it makes the dress elegant and simple. Another detail from this dress that I love is the belt cinching as it gives a Grecian goddess feel that not onlt is timeless, it is also flattering and works very well with many body types.
So dish with me, what were your favorite London styles?
