Ryzenberg On: Versace for H&M Preview
I know that everyone these days is doing designer collaborations, but Versace is one that will certainly stand out. The Milanese design house will debut its line at H&M on November 17.
It’s going to be hard to beat Mr. Elbaz’s Lanvin collection from last year, (I mean, y’all remember I stood outside for 10 hours to score some of those finds) but I must say that this collection is pretty complete and I am sure the lines are going to be just as long.
This collaboration includes women’s and men’s clothes and accessories, and even housewares. The prices are also affordable, starting at $17.99 and going up to $299 for some of the leather dresses! It is a steal compared to the duds that rack up to the thousands of dollars — and this why I love H&M.
The campaign is also fantastic and features a plethora of bodacious blonds that include Sasha Pivovarova, Lindsay Wixon, Daphne Groeneveld and Abbey Lee Kershaw. It was shot by lens maestroes Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Joe McKenna.
I must say this is a winning look — I mean, it covers all of the Versace basics that always include color, gold, larger-than-life accessories and prints filled with palm trees that only few daring women (me, maybe) can pull off. So yeah, I predict that it’s most likely going to sell out in like .5 seconds and end up on eBay for three times the price.
This collection reminds me of the early Versus day, and it’s something the late Gianni would have put his stamp of approval on — it’s as if he was right there creating it next to the Donna herself.
I will say though, that I will not camp out for this one! Sorry guys, for no funny videos from this gal. In order to spend a cold November night out with die-hard fashionistas and random drunks asking ‘what’s going on?,’ I have to love the collection and the designer, which I do with Lanvin and Alber.
So no sleep will be lost over Donatella’s designs, but I will stop by the store early the next day to see if there are any leftover goodies lying around.
