This year’s Grammy Awards had a few restrictions, (yup, a memo went out) but this certainly wasn’t a detriment for good style showing.
There was a rainbow of colors and many of the season’s trends were present. Of course, cleavage and slits were in abundance!
Here are my top five picks:
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra: When it comes to fashion, this one/third of Destiny’s Child hits all the right notes. She is sporting one of Spring’s major trends, the cutouts and she simply looks slamming! If I say so myself, she may have had one of her best weeks ever.
Taylor Swift in J. Mendel: Bravo T. Swift, you look modern and like a gal of your own age. I wasn’t a huge fan of her Golden Globe look, despite accolades from all fashionistas, but this Grecian inspired gown along with a bit of bare skin and a slit is classy, young and fabulous.
Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture: This songstress often wears Givenchy couture and I must say the color of her dress, her matching clutch and hair color scream chicness. I know it is not the most mainstream look, but I love the dramatics of it!
Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia: Very few times does RiRi do wrong in my book of sartorials (except when she wears those outright trashy ensembles, but still I give her nods for creativity). But when it comes to the red carpet, she dazzles! Who can forget her Michelle Pfeiffer homage during last year’s Grammys? This little number has a je ne sais quoi sexy feel that I am sure sure Chris Brown applauded.
Carly Rae Jepsen in Roberto Cavalli: The northern import is cute as a button and if I had her number, I’d absolutely call her so that we can go shopping together. I also love what it has now become her signature bangs and the minimal baubles she sported.
Solange Knowles in Ralph & Russo & Christian Louboutin: This girl gets it. Period. Beyonce’s little sis has an incredible sense of style that screams individualism and confidence. Hands down my favorite look of the night, so much for its glitz, glamour and juxtapositions. The minimal makeup and fro, the bright pink bright Loubis and and slimming gown are a winning combination that’s simply sexy! Ladies and gents, this is how multiple trends are done in one look! My best dressed pick…
What was yours? Honorable mention goes to my gal J.Lo, but I felt she tried too hard.
