Ryzenberg On: In Bloom
A few weeks ago, we had the luxury of enjoying a weekend of 80s temperatures which, in my opinion, is the real San Francisco treat.
I took a stroll to the Ferry Building’s Saturday Farmer’s Market with my friend Sharon and aside for loving all of the delicious bites and refreshing ice teas and agua frescas, I fell in love with one special stand: The Devoto Gardens flowers from Sebastopol!
Stan and Susan Devoto started growing apples and fresh cut flowers in 1976 and now their daughters Christina, Jolie and Cecily along with other employees work the stand that’s truly hard to part from. They grow everything from Roses, Hydrangeas, Tuberose, Dahlias and other beautiful blooms.
I was thrilled to chat with Jolie and her fiancee Hunter, who will wed later this summer. They were so sweet, but more importantly, you could feel all the passion they have for each and every bulb.
Of course it’s hard to walk empty handed for here and I bought a delicious bouquet of Sweet Williams that brought sunshine to my pad for almost three weeks. Seriously, it was one of the greatest $5 ever spent!
Can’t wait to go back and chat with the duo even more. Aside from the gorgeous weekend weather, I must say this was indeed another treat!
Want to learn more about this fantastic and sustainable North Bay farm, check out their sweet site and even better — they have a fantastic blog.
But wait, there is more: They have a Facebook page filled with their latest beautiful blooms and lots of well-deserved praise from happy clients, like moi!
So Devoto clan, I have a feeling our friendship is just starting to blossom.
