Ryzenberg On: Giselle takes over the glossies

Bem vindo ao Brasil Harper’s Bazaar! — Harper’s Bazaar is coming to Brasil and what better way to make a splash than featuring the country’s (and possibly the world’s) most famous model — Giselle Bundchen.

Yup, Mrs. Tom Brady graced the cover of the magazine’s inaugural issue, photographed by Terry Richardson, wearing a one-piece Chanel bathing suit.

This seems like a no brainer. I mean, it’s Brazil, land of the ‘tangas’ after all, so it had to be Giselle in a bathing suit. She is, a national treasure, (after Pele and cachaça) and a fantastic yet, profitable cover, nonetheless. 

I must say, this cover truly displays what the world loves about this South American mega country (and the 8th most powerful economy in the world) its warmth, cheerful message is transmitted through the bright background and flawless features that Giselle is lucky to have. (And Tom sure enjoys!) 

After looking at this cover, all I want to do is book the cheapest ticket to Rio, run around Ipanema and Copacabana, bask in the sun in a bikini and drink coconut juice right from the coconut. Maybe that way, I too, can possess some of the this gal’s coveted assets. (A girl can always dream)

So put on some Bossa Nova, raise your caipirinhas and may this magazine bring the best of what’s east of the Demarcation Line has to offer. Chin Chin.

But don’t be naive to think that South America is the only place getting a cover with this legendary supermodel. Across the pound and thousands of miles away, this Samba dancing darling also graces the cover Vogue UK. For this spread she wears a colorful 80s inspired uber leggy ensemble styled by Lucinda Chambers and shot by my favorite feisty Peruvian Mario Testino. 

The spread features colorful duds that make you feel like its May rather than a wintry and cold December. (Also, no ugly sweaters or reindeer in sight!)

Gosh, once again I remind myself that the grass is greener on the other side. Brazil is not only the land of the ‘O Jogo Bonito’ when it comes to soccer, but it’s also a Mecca for beautiful people.
