Ryzenberg On: amfAR New York Gala 2012

Let the shows begin — New York Fashion Week F/W 2012 is officially here. To kick off this star studded week filled with fashion, celebrities, socialites and endless soirees, amfAR hosted its annual New York gala at Cipriani Wall Street.

Needless to say, a bevy of beautiful people attended this charitable function, which honors those who devote time to AIDS awareness, and of course everyone was dressed to the nines.

Here are some of my favorite hightlights:

Heidi Klum in Roberto Cavalli — The ‘other’ Body (The original Body is of course Aussi Elle McPhearson) looks stunning in this strapless beaded gown. Love the cuffs and statement earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and hair pulled back.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta with Theyskens Theory Jacket — This is an absolute stunner. What makes the dress even more striking is the bodice embroidered with rhinestones, which was truly fit for a princess. Love the gloves too, as it ads nice juxtaposition of princess-meets-motorcycle-rebel feel.

Rose Byrne in Alexander McQueen — This lady from down under shined in Alexander McQueen. She completed the look with black pumps and a signature skull clutch also from McQueen. Love that Rose is not afraid to take red carpet risks and she is slowly cementing her way into elite sartorialism.

Julianne Moore in Roberto Cavalli — Ms. Moore never disappoints when it comes to style. Donned in a fitted Roberto Cavalli gown she wore her hair down and red lips and brought old Hollywood to downtown NYC. Now ladies and gentlemen, that’s what I call a grand entrance.

Anya Rubik in Gucci — The uber leggy model chose one of Frida Giannini’s creations that simply make her spark from head-to-toe. This dress is from the S/S 2012 collection and I must say, I loved every piece that came off the runway, simply because of its homage to the 1920s — an era filled with fabulous parties, prohibition and most of all, grandeur.

Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli — Seriously, she not only has an amazing voice, but hello, those curves are to die for. This little number fits her like a glove and she was indeed glowing inside out. The stacked bracelets also work well with her look and that long, mermaid-like hair actually reminded me of yet another diva, Ms. Diana Ross; Yup, I absolutely went there!

As for the best dressed, it’s a toss up between J-Hud and Rose Byrne. Both show stoppers for sure.

Now it’s going to be a busy couple of weeks, but hey, that’s what we fashion fanatics live for.
