My Standout Picks from the 2015 Golden Globes

I know I am a bit tardy to this party, (a week to be exact) but here are my Golden Globes picks. This red carpet was filled the usual Hollywood glitz and glamour and though I would have liked to see more risks, it was indeed filled with perfectly tailored gowns, exquisite gems and beautiful people.

There was a lot of metallics, winter white ensembles and my favorite — menswear inspired looks! So happy to see pant suits rocked the carpet because they are versatile and incredible sexy. To me, nothing is more feminine than a confident woman sporting a pantsuit with confidence — Oh la la!

So happy awards season is here and it’s rather surreal living in Los Angeles while this all happens. The day of the Golden Globes, traffic was at a standstill for hours at the Beverly Hilton, there were more black cars than at a G8 convention and the whole city transformed. Many of the conversations I heard revolved about the event, most of my friends planned viewing parties and I even saw a few assistants run around the city in search of the perfect pair of SPANX.

I am slowly learning the ropes of Los Angeles — but boy oh boy — sometimes it’s not easy. Can’t wait to see what the rest of these few months bring; but it’s indeed exciting

Dakota-Johnson-GGs

Dakota Johnson in Chanel Couture: The 5o Shades of Gray star looked stunning in this little Lagerfeld creation; as it is perfectly tailored and age appropriate. I know this gal is going to be in the spotlight coming up, so I look forward to seeing what she brings to the carpet.

Julianne-Moore-GGs

Julianne Moore in Givenchy Haute Couture and Chopard Jewels: This woman does no wrong when it comes to sartorial choices. It is hard to believe she is in her (wowza) 50s and looking better than ever. Her Givenchy Haute Couture gown is beautiful, fits her like a glove and has her glowing in all of the right places. Like Rob Reiner’s mom Estelle said on ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ “I’ll have what she’s having” to look this good when I am in my 5os.

Reese-Witherspoon-GGs

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein: I know, I know, a bit safe and expected — but still beautiful. Reese rarely looks bad on the red carpet, and this dress has the perfect proportions for her petite frame. Though I feel like I’ve seen it all before, this is a safe and good look for the red carpet — one that will be solidly remembered.

Naomi-Watts-GGs

Naomi Watts in Gucci and Bulgari: There is something magical about a yellow gown and, I must admit, this vibrant hue can be hard to pull off. And can we discuss how amazing her Bulgari snake necklace is? Though she had worn that eye-catching necklace before, it still steals the show as one classic — and memorable piece. The rest is kept simple and voila, the whole ensemble comes looking like a million bucks (which is most likely what it’s worth!)

Chrissy-Teigen-GGs

Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad: It’s sexy in all of the right places, playful, fun and she just wears it so well. Plus, Mrs. John Legend’s olive complexion nails this blush tone — and it truly makes her a standout.

Emma-Stone-GGs

Emma Stone in Lanvin: Bravo, Bravo. The 26-year-old truly mastered this uber-chic and fashion forward look in every way possible. Petra Flannery and Mara Roszak know a thing or two about making memorable ensembles and this one takes the cake. The embellished Lanvin suit paired with simple black pumps and minimal jewels is perfection and a fantastic way to spike things up during a somewhat ‘safe’ red carpet.
