For the past month, I went back to the runways and picked my favorite Spring/Summer 2014 trends. Together, we sartorially traveled to New York, London, Milan and now we are getting to the end of the journey with the Belle of the Ball, Paris.
The City of Lights is always about high style, luxury and over-the-top and the world’s biggest houses didn’t disappoint. The catwalks were full of live, color, drama, texture and most importantly, point of view. One fabric and trend that kept popping up was metallics (usually associated with fall and winter) but this trend is just as versatile as its colors. Below are fun ways to sport it during the warmer months.
Dries Van Noten: The Flemish print master combined his signature styles of patters and structure all into one. The metallics are incorporated into a very nice Baroque feel that is very approachable, as it can work for workwear or even an evening look with a crisp black or white top and sexy heels.
Saint Laurent: Hedi Slimane gave his latest creations a bit of an edge and they were nicely received. This simple form-fitting frock is fantastic for starlets and fashionistas alike. I can see it worn for premieres, Las Vegas soirees and even dinner parties. I also like the gold-silver combo, since for many, it’s become a fashion no-no, but alas, I think the vibe is simply chic and effortless.
Lanvin: Femme fatale, sexy silhouette and sparkle, yup Alber Elbaz nailed it. The Lanvin mastermind really understands how to make a woman stand out and really shine. This is divine and it works for pretty much any age, all depending how it’s styled and accessorized.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista: Flirty and fun, this is the ultimate little wedding dress. What I love about this style is how it can also work nicely with flats and even a denim jacket, as it can easily be worn for a casual feel.
Rochas: Cute knit metallic dress and fancy cardigan indeed. I’d certainly wear this with a pair of peep-toe sandals or wedges, but think this feel is fantastic.
Come dish with me, what were your favorites from fashion month? Do tell!
