When I went to Off the Grid in San Francisco’s Presidio a few weeks ago, I knew hands down I was in for a culinary adventure amongst a variety of food trucks. I didn’t expect shopping as part of the plan, but thanks to The Butler’s Pantry, I was immediately transported to a piece of kitchen heaven.
This sweet ride is a shop that carries the latest and greatest in kitchen and home decor. I chatted with owner Jamie, who came up with this brilliant idea when she couldn’t find any cute cookware boutiques near her hometown in California’s Central Valley. She had a few connections with vendors from working in the retail business, so long and behold, a new venture was born. Nowadays, this magic truck can be found anywhere in Northern California, from market and picnics to even private parties.
Among my favorite goodies were a pair of vintage mugs and an owl cookie jar that was simply (pun intended) a hoot! They also carry, great cutlery, fantastic aprons and super durable cookware. Their e-commerce site is terrific as they ship nationwide and offer local deliveries.
Smitten really doesn’t describe how I felt when I saw this local gem, though I guess this really qualifies more as a ‘nomadic’ gem! Though Off the Grid goes on hiatus on October 27, be sure to like The Butler’s Pantry on Facebook, and keep up with their latest travels! Who knows, they might park near you.
