If you are going to a public place where everyone is coughing, sneezing or wheezing — chances are that you may get sick. Though it took me a bit to actually believe it, I too, fell for the flu this season and let’s just say it’s been less than stellar.
I’ve been home cooped up for most of the weekend and I am slowly recuperating, but now I have a case of cabin fever and can’t wait to get out and go anywhere where there is fresh air.
Though that may not happen for a few more days thanks to this cold, I have compiled a list of must-haves for a happier and healthier you. It’s always good to have these goodies handy, as you never know when it will hit — just like it happened to me last week.
These goodies will make it a bit more bearable for staying home. So grab some magazines, the TV remote and just let the cold take its course — with the help of decongestant, of course!

1. Rag & Bone Cotton Wrap Hoodie: To me, the key to combating is cold is having cozy pieces to layer up with. These sweatshirt from Rag & Bone is soft and perfect for those moments you simply need to bundle up. Since I am usually more vulnerable when sick, I stick to sweaters that loose and allow me to move freely.
2. Pier 1 Calliope Button Lumbar Pillow: This soft cushy pillow is the perfect compani0n for an afternoon of Netflix watching or bad reality TV catching up (yup, that’s pretty much what I did on Saturday, since Sunday was more about football!)
3. Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Throw: Need to bundle up? No brand knows the importance of warmth than Barefoot Dreams. Their throws, ropes and wraps are the perfect pieces to stay-home warm and comfortable. Plus, these blankets are perfect for traveling so once you kick the cold to the curb, put them in the wash and take them along your next adventure.
4. Marshmallow Soft Unisex Charcoal Grey Microfiber Fuzzy Spa Slipper Socks: My feet are always cold, so when I am sick it’s perfect to cover them with chunky socks. I found these on Amazon and they are easy to wash and they don’t stretch or fall apart.
5. Vick’s VapoRub: My mother used this when I was a kid and I am obsessed with the smell — it’s that minty, Eucalyptus feel that has me thinking of forests all the time. Just rub a little bit on your chest and it will soothe up all of the stuffiness.
6. Smith’s Rosebud Salve: My lips tend to get chapped and it could also be due to the cold ever (yes, even in Los Angeles), so this salve has the perfect ingredients to keep my lips moist and hydrated.

8. ModCloth ‘Nose Place Like Home’ Tissue Holder: Quirky and fun — because nobody wants to have bland carton of tissues lying around.
9. Fornasetti Porcelain Tea Pot: I’ve been eyeing the Fornasetti line for a while since it’s playful and unique and why not treat yourself when sick. Plus, you can also use it when you are healthy and throwing fabulous dinner and tea parties.
