Everybody is Working for the Weekend

Hello Friday! I know it’s been a bit of a crazy week for me, and now is the time to wind down, grab some cocktails and fire up that grill. But before you start texting all of your pals and penning all of the plans, you got to look the part!

Here are summer must-haves that are perfect for a country hideaway, city slicking or beaching it (which would be my choice of getaway)!

Weekend-Favorites

Some things to keep in mind:

SPF is your BFF: Lather up and down. The sun is not trustworthy and rather tempting. Check out my personal favorite La Roche Posay Athelios, which is not only strong, but lasts for hours! Also always have some Chapstick handy to avoid cracked lips.

Sport beach waves FTW: Bumble and Bumble makes amazing sprays, shampoos and conditioners that leave your hair feeling easy and breezy. Don’t want to dish out the dough for an actual bottle? Do what I do and just get the travel sizes — plus you can store it on your carry-on!

Always have a light jacket in hand: Denim is perfect for crisp nights and slight winds. Plus, it looks great with pretty much anything. I must say that Gap has the best selection that are wallet friendly

See through the Sunnies Lenses: Again, the sun shines, but your eyes needn’t! There are so many fun styles out now, I like neutral colors with a shape that works with most faces, like these ones from Ray Ban.

Straw Accoutrements: Perfect to carry around all sorts of items and the hat is light, easy to wear and pretty durable for those lazy days at the beach or the lake. Check this bag from Tory Burch (on sale) and Fedora from Jack Wills.

Keep Organized and Carry On: If you are venturing out at night, take a clutch large enough to fit a phone, repellent and some cash. This fun Ikat little number from C.Wonder sure fits my bill. Plus, it comes in an array of fun colors.

Baby Got Baby Doll Dresses and rompers: These 1990s staples that made Anna Sui iconic and were sported by pretty much every alternative chanteuse (I am talking to you, Lisa Loebl) are making a sudden comeback and I couldn’t be more excited about it. They work great now with flat sandals or wedges and later in the Fall with tights and Oxfords! This little number from Paul & Joe Sister seals the deal.

Stripes (Of Course): Breton stripes are hands down my favorite (OK, I know you’ve known this because it’s one of my signature looks) These espadrilles from Soludos are trendy, stylish and more importantly comfortable.

PS:  You had to know that stripes were going to make the cut.
