Oh Monday, why do you always like to make an appearance so fast…I can’t believe it’s already mid-August. This year is simply flying by and there is still a lot that I’d like to achieve — I mean wowzers.
Also, can we talk about LA’s recent heat wave? I spent my weekend dog sitting my best friend’s pup in the Valley, and it’s a miracle I didn’t melt. Luckily, I escaped to the beach on Saturday, so jumping in the ocean definitely helped me cool off.
It’s nice to live in a place were sleeveless shirts are a norm, since I always had to layer up in San Francisco. Though scorching temperatures are brutal, it’s nice to wear a top late into the night and not have to worry about bringing a jacket, scarf, or any other form of cloth.
One of the things I noticed from this sartorialism is how much weight I have gained in the past year. Despite working out on the regular, this is the heaviest I have ever been and let’s just say it’s not easy. Some of my pants don’t even go up, and I have three gorgeous dresses that don’t zip. Let’s just say, it’s not a pretty sight.
I am opening up about this because body image is something most adults deal with, and it can be a struggle that can often end in eating disorders, depression, and other long-term conditions that can easily be taken care of early on.
I have decided to change my diet completely — and in the next few days, will bid adieu to some of my favorite foods like sugars, dairy and processed grains. I know I have a long way to go to reach my goal, though I am keeping it proportionate, but I have decided to document my journey with all of you.
I am going to talk more about my workouts, (and fashions) favorite treats, and my overall challenges. As I begin this transformation, I know it will be hard, I know there will be moments of potential relapses, and even daily struggles. But the one thing I know is that when I don’t like something, I go ahead and change it, and now is the time to do so.
Wish me luck, and please share your comments, as I know this is something sensitive and I’d love to use this as a forum for inspiration and encouragement.
I want to say Merci Beaucoup to everyone for always supporting me and motivating me to be a better me — now I know this journey won’t be easy, but I am excited for the steps ahead, as I have some new changes heading my way.
Have a lovely week and stay hydrated!
